This Privacy Policy explains what information DMV Halal Eats ("we", "us") handles when you use our website or iOS app, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using the website or app you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

• Location. If you tap "use my location," the website or iOS app asks for permission to access your coordinates so it can show nearby places. The iOS app calculates distances on your device and does not transmit or store your coordinates on our servers. On the website, a city or ZIP search is sent to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service to look up coordinates. We do not store your location on our servers.
• On-device preferences. The website stores saved favorites, "I verified" marks, your chosen area, and theme locally in your browser. The iOS app stores saved favorites locally in the app's private storage. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us.
• Messages and corrections. If you contact us, suggest a place, or report a listing, we store the information you submit. Your name and email are optional and are used only to review or reply to your message.
• We do not require an account.

iOS app

The iOS app does not include advertising or analytics SDKs, does not require an account, and does not collect or transmit personal data. When you open a restaurant, masjid, or event website, Apple Maps directions, or a phone link, the request is handled by that external service under its own privacy policy.

Third-party services

• OpenStreetMap (Overpass & Nominatim) — provides place data, search, and geocoding. Requests include the area you're searching.
• Map tiles are served by OpenStreetMap.
• Masjid websites — community-event listings are fetched from mosques' own public calendars.
• Google Analytics — helps us understand visits, page usage, and general site performance. Google may process browser, device, interaction, and approximate location information for this purpose.

Analytics, advertising & cookies

We use Google Analytics to measure how the site is used. Analytics and advertising services may use cookies or similar technologies. We do not send Google names, email addresses, or precise coordinates through the Analytics tag.

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies and revoke location access in their settings. You can clear website data at any time through your browser. On iOS, you can revoke location access in Settings and remove locally saved favorites in the app.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
